Halloween 2012... A Story About the Scariest Mouse.

Terrifying, isn't he? In a parenting victory, we convinced Hugo to wear the amazing mouse costume sewed by my mom for me 30 years ago by letting him decide that it was a SCARY mouse costume. (He insisted he wanted to be something scary, we wanted him to be a mouse... the solution was obvious.)

In fact, he was so convinced of his scariness, he was worried about scaring his friends when we arrived at his preschool Halloween party. See the photo below - it didn't seem to be a problem.

It wouldn't be Halloween without a visit to the pumpkin patch, so we headed up to Petaluma to a farm so Hugo could choose a few pumpkins to carve. It was sunny, but terribly windy, so Freddie and I sort of hid out while Hugo and Marty searched the patch for the perfect pumpkins.

They went to work that night, creating a scary mouse jack-o-lantern to go with the scary mouse costume.

Not bad!

We ventured out in our neighborhood for trick or treating. A little drizzle didn't deter Hugo from running up to every house exclaiming, "TRICK or TREAT! {{candy given}} Thank you! Happy Halloween!!"

Freddie wasn't impressed with Halloween. Maybe next year, champ.
