After a couple of tough weeks at work, Kimberly and I were able to bust out of town and head up to Mount Tamalpais, about 20 minutes north of San Francisco. A friend of a friend rented out the West Point Inn, an amazing little place with no electricity that can only be reached by hiking in. There were 17 of us in all, only 2 of whom we already knew, but it was a great weekend away.

The group on a hike, looking south back towards San Francisco.

Our friend and co-worker Eric Boyd, taking a breather with Kim.

It was a nice group of people - a friend of Eric's organized it all, and everyone brought a different part of the meal up the mountain in their backpacks. At night, gas lamps filled the rooms with a beautiful light.

Believe it or not, we were up at sunrise. This is the view from the tiny cabin Kimberly and I stayed in. What you see there is the marine layer - basically the fog and clouds that roll in every morning through the Golden Gate passage from the Pacific. The West Point Inn is so high up that we were above the marine layer, looking down on it. It was incredible.
It's something new we're trying out - just a new place to put our pictures. Check 'em out. All in all, it was an amazing weekend, and one of the real benefits of living in San Francisco. Just a short drive out of the city, a walk straight up a mountain, and we were someplace as beautiful and relaxing as you could imagine.
