It's been a long time since we've posted, so there's a lot to catch up on here.
We started the day with a lazy breakfast at Boulange and attached a new rack to the top of our car so we could take weekend biking trips throughout the area. I think we'll be making a little trip over the bridge today to check out some trails over in Marin. Nothing too strenuous, we're really just testing out the new rack!

A few weekends ago, we went to the Outside Lands Festival in Golden Gate Park. The weather was typical for San Francisco - a bit warm-ish during the day, but mostly foggy and slightly chilly at night. But that didn't stop us from eating sausages and burgers and drinking beers from the food tent!

We tried to make it in time to see an old friend play, but due to a relatively stupid public transportation system here in SF and our legs not being quite fast enough to get us there in time, we missed Abby by about 5 minutes. We did happen to catch some other great shows, though, and it's always enjoyable to spend a day in the park with live music playing. Devendra Banhart (which also comes with a few Natalie Portman sightings), M. Ward, Ben Harper and some others all put on a good show for us.
The headliner that evening was the legendary Tom Petty. He didn't play a single song in his nearly 2 hour set that wasn't a hit. What an amazing musical career this guy has had, and it's still incredible how he can get a crowd going at a show like this.
Embarrassingly, and perhaps brilliantly, we snuck out of the festival about 30 minutes before the final song played and managed to get a cab home without much trouble. Since it was the city's first Outside Lands in Golden Gate Park, we were pretty sure they hadn't thought to have a few extra buses running after the show was done, and didn't think we would want to hoof it all the way home!

Katja and Roberto were in town for a wedding at Cavallo Point at Fort Baker in Sausalito and we managed to hi-jack a few moments of their trip to spend time with us. We stole them away on Friday night to go to one of our favorite restaurants, Nopa, then showed them around the Mission and had lunch on Saturday. On Sunday morning we drove back over the bridge for a pleasant hike along the Marin Headlands. It was a meandering stroll up the hills that provided us with amazing views back to the city and also out to the Pacific.
Although it was foggy some of the weekend (actually foggy enough that the fog horns kept Katja & Roberto up one night!), I still think the Bay Area put on a good show for our family from Miami.
Oh, and we had another small earthquake here last week. A 4.0 in Oakland shook our apartment for a few seconds on Friday. It sort of felt like a giant truck dropped onto the roof and shook everything inside. No reports of falling items or movement of furniture, but it was another reminder that the ground here in Northern California is completely unstable and ready to toss us right into the ocean at any time.
