Warm weather and San Francisco don't usually go hand in hand. You'd think they would, being California and all, but generally you'd be wrong. An exception occurred a few weekends ago. Two exceptions, in fact. Saturday we spent lounging in Golden Gate Park with a few friends and all manner of picnic foods. Sunday was supposed to be even warmer (85!) so Kimberly and I decided to head to Muir Beach. It's a small beach about 40 minutes north of San Francisco on Highway 1, near (as one would imagine) Muir Woods.

Now, the real reason we picked Muir Beach is because it's about 100 yards from one of our favorite restaurants, The Pelican Inn. Our friends Kate and Mike skipped the beach to pick up some last-minute baby provisions for their soon-to-be-born, but were nice enough to meet us for an early dinner.

One minute we were on the beach, the next we were beside a crackling fire in an old English-style pub and inn, eating beef stew. Warm days, yes. Warm nights, no. It's still San Francisco, after all.
